I get asked this almost every day: "Kristen, what apps do you ACTUALLY use to make money?" Not the ones from some listicle — the ones on my real phone, that a real mom of 6 uses between school runs and work calls. So here it is, all in one place. I update this post as things change.

Quick honesty note: none of these replace a paycheck. Stacked together, they're how I cover groceries, gas, and the extras. Some links are my referral links (#ad) — if you sign up through them, we both usually get a little bonus, at no cost to you.

💻 Real Work-From-Home Jobs

Apps are side money. For actual paychecks, these are the platforms I work real customer-service programs from home on:

- Working Solutions — the company I work for hires customer-service reps to work from home (I do TurboTax & QuickBooks support): apply here — and my whole blog is full of WFH opportunities if you look around.

🧹 Get Paid to Record Your Chores (Yes, Really)

I strap my phone on with a head mount and get paid for recording the chores I'm already doing — cooking dinner, folding laundry, washing dishes, tidying up. Companies use the video to train AI. These are the ones I send people to:

- Contracted AI — This is the chore app I record with the most. Phone on a head mount, I film my own dishes, laundry, and tidying, and the videos help train AI. It pays $8–$13/hr, daily by default — reviews are running slower than usual right now, so some videos take a little longer to clear, but it should be back to normal soon. - micro1 — The At-Home Video Recorder gig. $15–$17/hr with bonuses. Pays on the 1st and the 16th. Sign up for micro1

- Amelia — NEWEST addition to my rotation and the one I'm most excited about right now. Record Monday–Sunday, hours are approved on Mondays, and pay goes out weekly on Fridays. Bonus: after your first 5 approved hours they add a one-time $15 headset reimbursement — even if you already own a head mount. - Shift — $12/hr for home recording. What I love: their reviews are FAST — about 2–3 hours — and they pay for the accepted portions of your videos, so good footage starts earning almost right away. ⚠️ Important if you stack these: a few of these apps record through the same system (Minute). Use a different email address for each app that uses Minute — one email per app keeps your accounts clean and avoids mix-ups.
