I Get Paid to Clean My Own House: 6 Chore-Recording Apps, Explained Honestly

Hi friend, I am Kristen — mom of six, working from home, and cleaning my own house every day whether anyone pays me or not. Laundry for eight people, a kitchen that never stays clean, floors that need sweeping again by dinner — that work was already happening.

So when I found apps that pay you to record yourself doing your own chores — phone in a head mount, so companies training AI and robots can learn how real hands fold, scrub, cook, and organize — I paid attention. You are not cleaning strangers' houses, and you are not driving anywhere. You clean your own home, record it the way each app requires, and get paid for footage that gets accepted. I use all six of these. Here is my honest take on each.

1. micro1 — the highest hourly range on this list

Who it's for: Mamas who want the strongest pay rate and do not mind a more selective application process.

micro1 pays $15–$17 an hour with bonuses, on the 1st and 16th. It also posts standalone projects from time to time, so check what is open when you apply instead of assuming every listing is housework.

Honest take: Best rate here, but twice-a-month pay is not same-week money, and getting in can involve screening steps. If you can wait for a payday cycle, start here.

2. Shift — fast reviews, cash out from $10

Who it's for: Anyone who wants quick feedback on whether a recording counted, without waiting a week to find out.

Shift pays $12 an hour for the at-home track — cooking, cleaning, laundry, organizing — and only the accepted portions pay. Reviews are fast, usually about 2–3 hours, and you can request payout from $10.

Honest take: That accepted-portions rule is the whole game — a long recording does not automatically mean a long payout, so follow its filming directions exactly. The fast review makes it one of the easiest here to test.

3. Amelia — weekly Friday pay, with a headset perk

Who it's for: Steady cleaners who can record regularly across a week and like a predictable Friday rhythm.

Record Monday through Sunday, hours are approved Mondays, you request pay Monday through Thursday, and pay comes on Fridays. Pay works on monthly levels based on approved hours. After 5 approved hours in its trial tier, Amelia adds a one-time $15 headset reimbursement — even if you already own an eligible mount.

Honest take: The filming rule is strict and non-negotiable: you must use an eligible head-mounted phone holder. Chest mounts, neck mounts, tripods, stands, and handheld recording get rejected and do not pay. Buy the right mount first, or do not start this one.

4. Contracted AI — a solid everyday option

Who it's for: Mamas who want another steady chore-recording option running alongside the apps above.

Contracted AI pays in the $8–$13 an hour range. The default is daily pay — reviews are running slower than usual right now, so some videos take a little longer to clear, but it should be back to normal soon.

Honest take: Not the highest rate here, so I treat it as part of a rotation. No single app has good tasks every day — having more than one account means a slow day on one is not a zero day overall.

5. HighFive Tasks — simple recording, slower road to payout

Who it's for: Patient beginners who want a straightforward app and are not counting on the money right away.

HighFive pays $6–$14 an hour. You record Monday through Sunday, and it pays out on Mondays for the prior week — once you reach its $100 minimum payout.

Honest take: I will not sugarcoat that minimum. At the lower rates, $100 is a lot of recorded hours before your first payout — that is why I am printing it instead of hiding it. The work is simple and adds up in the background, but go in with eyes open.

6. Visora — the extra option on my list

Who it's for: Anyone already set up on two or three apps above who wants one more place to check for work.

Visora is another chore-recording option, and its pay varies by task. It is last for an honest reason: I have not requested a payout from it yet, so I cannot tell you how fast that part goes.

Honest take: No complaints from me — just no payout story to share yet. Start with the apps above where I can tell you the pay schedule plainly, and add Visora once your head mount and routine are already working.

How I would start if I were brand new

Start with one app, not six. Get a proper head-mounted phone holder first — filming the wrong way is the fastest way to record for free. Pick by pay timing: Shift for fast reviews and a $10 cash-out, Amelia for a Friday rhythm, micro1 if you can wait for the 1st and 16th.

Then record the chores you were already doing. Do not stage a perfect house or quit a job over chore apps — this is stack-on-top money, one stream among several. My Start Here page has my other streams in one place, and my sister blog The 417 Mom is where the local family side of our life lives.

Have you tried getting paid to record your chores yet — or is the head mount the part holding you back? Tell me in the comments, I read them.
